First Steps to a Successful Future
For many families, applying and navigating through the admissions process can be daunting. In the effort to eliminate some of this stress and to best clarify what your family can anticipate after applying to our school, the HFDH Admissions Team has outlined information to guide you step by step. Should you have any other questions, please feel free to contact the Admissions Team by phone or email at the addresses and phone numbers listed below.
Applying to Holy Family Day Home
HFDH is home to 154 children ages three months to five years. The school year begins mid-August. It is also our busiest period of enrollment. Enrollment continues throughout the year as openings occur.
Applications can be picked up in person at 299 Dolores Street in San Francisco.
There is no fee to apply. Applications can be submitted year round. You may submit your application through postal mail, in person, through fax or by email to:
Attention: HFDH Admissions Department
299 Dolores Street
San Francisco, CA 94110
After your application has been submitted you will receive an email confirmation. If you do not receive this, please call Beiling Gonzalez at 415-861-5361 ext. 211 or Beatrice Gibson at 415‑861‑5361 ext. 230, to make sure your application was received and processed. Once you are active on the admissions waitlist, you will receive a letter and email from the Admissions Team annually reconfirming your interest in joining our program. These letters are sent in the month of October every school year.
We ask that you contact us within the time frame noted on this letter to confirm your continued interest and update any family information that may have changed since applying. If we do not receive a response, your child’s application will become inactive and you will lose your place on the wait list. We are happy to reactivate applications at any time, with the date you contact us as your new waitlist rank.

Scholarships and Financial Assistance
In today’s economy and with the high cost of living in the Bay Area, we understand that financing your child’s education can be challenging. Families earning a combined gross monthly income of over $8,500 are considered private pay families and are not eligible for scholarship. If your family earns closer to $4,500 to $8,500 per month, you may be considered for a partial scholarship depending on the availability of funds at that time.
If you think your family qualifies for subsidized child care, we recommend that you contact one of the following resource and referral centers to learn about additional options that may be available to you.
Children’s Council of San Francisco
445 Church Street (Between 16th and 17th Streets)
San Francisco, CA 94114
415-276-2900 (Main line)
415-343-3300 (Resource and referral line)
706 Mission Street
San Francisco, CA 94103
Depending on your family's need and eligibility, you may be offered a childcare voucher, or be placed on an eligibility list to await services. If you are placed on the Central Eligibility List (SFCEL), Holy Family Day Home cannot directly offer your family services until Children’s Council or Wu Yee has approved your family for a care subsidy and has sent us your family contact information. Please contact Children’s Council or Wu Yee directly for any questions or inquiries about the SFCEL list.
HFDH maintains a contract with the Department of Children, Youth and Families of San Francisco. This contract supports families facing the hardship of homelessness and those living in inadequate housing by providing essential child care and family support. Please contact Beiling Gonzalez, Admissions and Contracts Manager, for more information on determining eligibility at 415‑861‑5361 ext. 211.
